Situated at the intersection of residential and commercial zones near Ikebukuro, Nishiikevalley 2025 represents a visionary approach to urban redevelopment. Moving away from the traditional "scrap and build" model, we focused on evolving the existing urban fabric by integrating new structures with three previously renovated houses. The project utilizes a multi-building format connected by pilotis, alleys, and courtyards, effectively blurring the boundaries between private property and the surrounding neighborhood.

The interior design emphasizes versatility and community interaction. On the lower floors, we've created porous spaces for cafes and gyms that open directly to the street. For the residential and office units above, we introduced "Doma" (earthen floor) transition spaces between private and common areas, allowing for diverse social relationships and future functional adaptations. By repurposing local materials like sleepers and granite, the architecture carries a sense of time and continuity, aiming to grow alongside its users as a living piece of the city.
